First grade is the place to be! We are learning lots of math. Your child should have brought home another set of flash cards (this time they are red). Please keep practicing for fluency...it makes math so much easier when we know our facts! We will be taking the Unit 3 test this week. It is full of addition and subtraction facts and story problems.
I hope you noticed this week's spelling list for blue and green has been combined (yellow has their own list). I only ran them on green. If your child typically does blue, please have him/her practice the green list this week. This week there is not a pattern or word family. We will be working on our High Frequency words that we need to be able to spell in a snap! This will not only support the upcoming Spelling Bee but make us more fluent writers. Please be sure to devote plenty of time to practice this week as some of them cannot be sounded out but must be memorized!
I also hope you saw the information in Tuesday Folders about our upcoming Parent Update which will be held next Wednesday, November 4th at 6:00. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about many of the exciting things that are happening at Hygiene. Your child will even have the opportunity to show you how to complete a design challenge! If you know any other families that might be interested in Hygiene, please encourage them to come as well. I hope to see everyone there!!!
Finally, we can't wait for Halloween! We will hold our party at 1:15 on Friday. The school-wide costume parade will be at 2:45. It is a tradition not to be missed! Please be sure to leave any weapons or scary items at home!
