We have four very productive days under our belts and are well on our way to establishing the rules and routines that will support us on our way to victory this year! Here are a few highlights of our first week:
- We began writing a rule book. So far we have established a need for active listening and respect. We will add two more next week. Please ask your child how they plan to be be respectful and be an active listener.
- We began our new literacy program, ReadyGen. We are learning about retelling and writing stories that include characters and a beginning, middle, and end. We are loving Stellaluna!
- To learn our way around the school, we went on an alphabet search looking of missing upper-case letters. This was also a great opportunity to reinforce using upper-case letters to begin sentences and names (another skill introduced this week in ReadyGen literacy).
- Finally, we ended our week with a science experiment. Ask your first grader what happens when gummy worms absorb water.
